FORMER BIG RIGS PULLER PASSES
Word has been received that a former member of the Big Rigs Pulling Sereis has passed away. 
George H. Rood, Sr. age 69 passed away on Mondy evening, October 5, 2009, with his family by his side at Select Specialty Hospital in Boardman, Ohio.
He was born Decemeber 16, 1939 in Ashtabula, Ohio, the son of Henry W. and Ruth L. (Hawes) Rood. He was a 1958 graduate of Ashtabula High School. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army in which he enlisted after graduating from high school.
Mr. Rood was the onwer and President of Rood Trucking in Mineral Ridge, Ohio for the past 45 years.
He was a member and preaching Elder of the New Hope Christian Church in Austintown, Ohio.
George owned and operated "A Rood Awakening", a Mack Superliner Modified Semi Truck and competed with the Big Rigs Pulling Series for six seasons. The semi was powered by a 998 cubic inch E-9 mack V-8 engine which was fitted at variuous times with as many as 4-turbo chargers. He had piloted his modified semi to a hugh win at the Crawford County Fair in Meadville, Pennsylvania in 2004. He is survived by his wife of 50 years the former Diane E. Powell, whom he married on August 8, 1959. Additionally he is survived by seven children.
